Cosmarium palatiniforme M.C. van Westen & P.F.M. Coesel 2021

A recently described taxon in the crenate-like taxa complex. Similar to a number of other species and close scrutiny of the crenations, cell ornamentation and L/B ratio is required.
Single cell dimensions: L: 34.8-38.4 µm; B: 28.4-31.4 µm; Is: 13.5-15.3 µm; Th: 20-20.9 µm; L/B: 1.18-1.27.
An atmophytic species found in ephemeral puddles and with moss on wet rocks. The status in the Outer Hebrides is uncertain due to taxonomic confusion.
