Phylum: Charophyta Family: Desmidiaceae
Cosmarium moniliforme var. panduriforme (A. Heimerl) W. Schmidle 1895
It differs from Cosmarium moniliforme var. limneticum West & West 1908 in its smaller size but they occupy similar habitats and have occasionally been found together.
Cell dimensions: L: 21.7-27.6 µm; B: 12.2-15.6 µm; Is: 7-9.5; L/B: 1.69-1.82.
In the Outer Hebrides it has been found in silty loch-margins, and boggy moorland pools in slightly acidic to slightly alkaline habitats. It is infrequently recorded.
