Actinotaenium mooreanum (W. Archer) E. Teiling 1954

First described by Archer (1864: 179) as Penium mooreanum. It was later moved by Teiling (1954: 408) to Actinotaenium. Cells almost barrel-shaped, the lateral sides curving gracefully to the rounded apex. This species is very similar to A. minutissimum (see that species for more details).
Cell dimensions: L: 12-20 µm; B: 8-13 µm; L/B: 1.30-2-20.
Generally, a rare species of moorland pools and bogs. However, it can be locally common.
