Phylum: Charophyta Family: Desmidiaceae
Cosmarium bioculatum Brébisson ex Ralfs
The original concept is unclear and the species has become a ‘catch-all’ for similar size cells making for a broad concept. Hence, its distribution is difficult to evaluate. Tolerant of circumneutral waters such as disused peat-cuttings and shallow moorland pools.
