Teilingia granulata  (J. Roy & J.P. Bisset) Bourrelly 1964

First described and illustrated by Roy & Bisset (1886: 242, pl. 268: 17) as Sphaerozosma granulatum. It was later moved by Bourrelly (1964: 190, fig. 9) to Teilingia. Cells about as long and broad. Apart from four apical granules, the cell-wall is smooth. This species is mainly distinguished by the apical and marginal granules.
Cell dimensions: L: 7-13 µm; B: 8-15 µm; Is: 4-6.5 µm; Th: 5-7 µm; L/B: 0.80-1.15.
West, West & Carter (1923: 213, pl. 160; 6-7) give a widespread distribution in circumneutral waters. This is still the situation in the Outer Hebrides.
