Staurastrum turgescens G. de Notaris 1867
First described and illustrated by De Notaris (1867: 51, pl. 4: 43). A triradiate species but quadriradiate cells have been recorded.
Cell dimensions: L: 28-42 µm; B: 25-37 µm.; Is: 10-12 µm.
An elusive desmid or rare occurrence, found in the benthic layer of acidic pools and bogs.
