Cosmarium neocrenulatum F.A.C. Kouwets 2025

A much-confused group of desmids based on the poorly described Cosmarium crenulatum Nägeli 1849. See Kouwets (2025) for a detailed analysis.
Cell dimensions: L: 22.6-33 µm; B: 18-24 µm; Is: 6-8 µm; Th: 9-12 µm; L/B. 1.27-1.45.
This taxon is thought to be widespread in a range of habitats from mesotrophic to more acidic peaty pools.
