Cosmarium coeselii Kouwets, Van Westen & Van Tooren
This is a newly described species based on the poorly known and described Cosmarium pachydermum var. aethiopicum. It is smaller than Cosmarium pachydermum in all dimensions with virtually no overlap. Found in quaking bogs and other moorland bogs. It’s described as widespread but not common in Europe. The status in the Outer Hebrides in unknown.
