Cosmarium boitierense var. inambitiosum Kouwets 1998

Kouwets (1998) describes this variety with a more or less prominent central protuberance and smaller in size than the nominate. In addition, the nominate has a less prominent central swelling. Coesel & Meesters (2007) mentioned forms of this variety that are even longer than those described by Kouwets and fit well with the Outer Hebrides finds. Found in circumneutral waters such as winter flood planes suggesting a tolerance of drying out.
