Actinotaenium wollei (W. West & G.S. West) E. Teiling 1954
First described by West & West (1896: 252, pl. 15: 17) as Cosmarium globosum var. wollei. It was later moved to Actinotaenium and raise to species level by Teiling (1954: 397). Cells ellipsoid with a slight constriction.
Cell dimensions: 25-51 µm; B: 20-38 µm; L/B: 1.1-1.6.
One of the more-readily identified Actinotaenium species but rare. Found in acidic bogs and moorland pools.
