Semicells roughly trapeziform, sinus closed for half its length then opening. Semicells three-lobed, interlobular incisions deep but open, polar lobe widely cuneate and bilobed with a concave apex. Angles rounded and granulate. Just above the isthmus of the semicell is a large protuberance, comprising numerous verrucae, with two smaller ones either side.
Cell dimensions: L: 80-110 µm; B: 70-105 µm; Is: 19-26 µm; Th: 53-55 µm; L/B: 1.05-1.15.
A fairly common acidophile from moorland pools and bogs.
